The Apple TV4, Apple’s latest generation Apple TV is reported to be launching in October.
Compared with its predecessor, the Apple TV4 will contain an App Store and a new universal search feature. The search feature will be expanded to include software and games after the product is officially released according to Apple.
“At launch we will have iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, and HBO — so we will have five major inputs in our universal search initially,” Cook said in an interview with BuzzFeed News. “But we’re also opening an API, so that others can join in.”
“It will improve the user experience since our universal search feature is able to list the content you want from all the platforms to which you are subscribed. I think that many, many people will want to be in that search and that’s great for users,” said Cook.

Unlike the iPhone, the Apple TV has not entered China’s mainland market yet but this may change as Apple last week launched several services including Apple Music, iTunes, movies and iBooks in the Greater China area. The recent introduction of Apple services in China sparked wide online discussion, with many interpreting it as a signal that Apple TV might enter China soon, industrial blog Weifeng reported.
We are waiting to see whether Chinese customers will embrace the latest Apple TV when it finally arrives.
