Alibaba announced on Tuesday that four high executives have been promoted as partners of the company.

The four are Yu Yongfu, President of Mobile Internet and Alimama; Zheng Junfang, Deputy CFO; Zhao Ying, Vice President of Ant Financial and Sun Lijun, General Manager of the rural Taobao marketplace. Yu Yongfu was head of UC Browser and became an executive at Alibaba after its acquisition last year.

This is the first time Alibaba has appointed new partners since its IPO in 2014. Alibaba began its partnership system in 2010. To become a partner at Alibaba, one needs to be nominated by an incumbent member and get voted in by other partners.

Among the 34 incumbent partners, 80% are born after 1970 and 30% are women. 21% of Alibaba’s current partners have a technical background.

  1. China Air Quality was forced by government to remove data from US Embassy; wasn’t their choice.

Asia Air Quality has the map layer data too, you just have to swipe left (in Android) to see it. And the Weather forecast (swipe right) allows you to see wind direction and speed forecasts which is the most accurate predictor of when pollution will clear.
