Xiaomi is busy promoting the Xiaomi 5, and at the same time getting ready to release its first smartphone of 2016, the RedMi 3, on Jan. 12, TechWeb reports.
The official Weibo account of the RedMi Smartphone said that the 5-inch RedMi 3, which has a metal body, will be released on Jan. 12. The President of Xiaomi Lin Bin posted on Weibo: “I’ve been using the RedMi 3 for a month. With the 4100mAh battery, it can be used continuously for two to four days without charging.” According to him, the RedMi 3 will be available for sale on January 12.
So far, most of the information available about the Redmi 3 is from a previous leak. According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the phone features a 720p display, a 13 megapixel camera on the back and a five megapixel camera in the front. Powered by a system based on Android 5.1.1 and MIUI 7.1, it will have 2GB RAM storage, 16GB ROM storage and a card slot for storage expansion. It also reportedly supports dual-SIM standby and three of China’s biggest mobile network operators. It is available in three colors: silver, gray and gold. The price is rumoured to be RMB 699.
Xiaomi is also gearing up for the launch of the Xiaomi 5. “Xiaomi 5 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, and is now in mass production. It will be ready for release after Chinese New Year!” the senior vice president of Xiaomi Li Wanqiang said on Weibo.
