Jiang Chuan, the vice president of JD, China’s second largest e-commerce platform, announced on Thursday that he will be the CTO of the O2O beauty service market leader Helijia. He will be in charge of product and technology development.
Jiang had a short but impressive stint at JD.com. In 2014, he was put in charge of product sales and R&D as the vice president of JD’s wireless business.
Under his leadership, wireless business orders increased by 120% and the gross merchandise volume (GMV) increased 2.6 times. Before joining JD, Jiang also worked for Tencent, serving as the senior technical director of the object management group (OMG).
Lanuched in March 2014, Helijia.com is an online-to-offline (O2O) beauty service provider. Apart from providing manicures, its core service, the company also provides hairdressing and makeup services.
“We are a O2O platform for beauty service workers,” Meng Xing, Helijia.com’s founder, told tech blog 36Kr in 2014. “Everything we do is about women and beauty, and we offer affordable quality services.”
The company is one of the largest beauty service O2O platforms in China. It claimed to have received RMB 327 million (USD 50 million) in Series C financing last February, pushing its valuation to RMB 1.96 billion.
