Ready for a ride on the UberScooter?

Some breaking news in Beijing today! A local startup has partnered with Uber’s new UberScooter to use their gadgets to test air pollution levels in the city. That’s right – you can know what you’re breathing every time you ride on the newly-equipped UberScooter.

I know you didn’t fall for it…but happy April Fools’ Day!

Although Uber China has officially denied that the UberScooter is real, something similar named the UberMOTO was really introduced to Bangkok, Thailand in February, allowing passengers to travel on congested streets on the back of a Uber motorbike.

But regardless of the traffic conditions, China could be a different case. With recent subsidies from Uber, Uber services may cost less than a dollar, even cheaper than Beijing’s motorized tricycle “tuk-tuks”, which are nicknamed “xiaobengbeng” in Chinese. How fun is that?

So the UberScooter may not be coming to China anytime soon. But a netizen suggested, “speaking as a millenial, I prefer a UberHoverboard!” Hmm…hoverboards providing Uber services? Good idea!

Last April, Uber experimented with UberRickshaw in Beijing after launching its UberBOAT service at Hangzhou’s famed West Lake.

Keep it up, People’s Uber! Chinese people need you.
