Chinese electronics company Xiaomi released the Mi TV 3S on Tuesday. It is priced at RMB 1,999 (USD 309), and is now on sale on Xiaomi’s official website.
The Mi TV 3S is being compared to the Mi TV 2S, but with less impressive specs. Both of them have a 48-inch screen, but the 3S’s resolution is 1080p, a step down from the 2S’s 4K resolution.
Despite the notable change in screen resolution, the 3S uses a Samsung Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen with a Field of View (FOV) of 178°, a contrast ratio of 4000:1 and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Like the older 43-inch Mi TV 3S, this new Mi TV has an Mstar 6A908 processor and a Mali-450 MP4 graphics processing unit. It also has 1GB DDR3 of internal memory and 8GB eMMC 4.5 flash memory.
There are three AV ports, two HDMI 1.4 ports, two USB ports (3.0 and 2.0), a S/PDIF port, an antenna port and an ethernet port in the back. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
This metal-frame TV weighs 12.4kg without the base and is 9.9 mm at its thinnest part.
For TV and movie content, this TV uses Xiaomi’s MIUI TV Android-based system. Xiaomi claims to have spent USD one billion building its content library, working with over 100 video content providers.
Today is Xiaomi’s sixth birthday. In the week leading up to the big day, the company put a number of new smartphones on sale and offered discount coupons and promotions for its other electronic devices.
Previously, Xiaomi launched its 60-inch Mi TV 3 for RMB 4,999 in October 2015, and a 70-inch Mi TV 3 for RMB 9,999 two months later.
