Meilice, a Shenzhen-based beauty company, announced that it has received tens of millions of RMB in angel investment on Wednesday.
The company’s latest round of financing comes from Plum Ventures’ Wu Shichun, Chinese film actress Zhang Ziyi, and angel investors Xu Yingjian and Huang Jie.
Founded in June 2015, the company is a high-tech enterprise that covers software, hardware and big data.
The company’s flagship product, Skin Film, is a smart mask with an accompanying mobile app that is able to accurately monitor the condition of the user’s skin for moisture, oil, and pigment, among other aspects.
The company will use big data analysis to come up with a personalized skin care solution for its user, and make use of its intelligent photon mask to care for the individual’s skin.
According to Sina’s news portal, the company is still in the process of perfecting the product in preparation for its launch.
Zhang Yanhua, CEO of the company, invited Zhang Ziyi, known for her role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, to be a co-founder of the company because her image appeals to the firm’s target audience.
According to a statement released by the company, Zhang foresees that at-home beauty will be a trend in the next 10 years. She also believes the company’s product will be able to generate demand and meet the needs of consumers in the domestic beauty market.
At present, the company’s market valuation is at RMB 200 million (USD 30.8 million), a fivefold increase from its RMB 40 million valuation in February, according to a report by askci.com, a research and financial advisory platform.
