JD Smart unveils new router as entry point for smart ecosystem

JD.com’s smart hardware ecosystem affiliate JD Smart announced the joint release of a new series of wireless routers with network communications equipment provider Tenda in Beijing on Tuesday.

“The Tenda AC series wireless router is an important part of JD Smart’s smart ecosystem. It will be connected to the Joylink protocol as the network entry point in the future to optimize our smart home system,” said Wang Zhenhui, the president of JD Smart.

Launched in January 2015, JD Smart builds partnerships with traditional and early-stage hardware manufacturers around the open JD Smart platform, aiming to create a smart ecosystem that allows products from different manufacturers to work together on a seamless platform through its Weilian super app.

Over 100 manufacturers including Haier, Hisense, and TCL are on the platform, providing a total of more than 400 JD Smart-enabled products. JD Smart supports its partner companies through multiple development stages by providing incubation, acceleration services, technological support, go-to-market solutions, supply chain and cloud computing services, as well as access to JD.com’s huge base of consumers.

Prior to wireless routers, JD Smart unveiled its voice-controlled device DingDong Smart Speaker, which allows users to take full voice control of all products in the JD Smart ecosystem through the Weilian super app.
