Kai Ni, the VP of Autonomous Driving for Letv Super Car, made a speech at the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Beijing on Friday. He explained the company’s SEE Plan and AI institute development in his speech.

SEE, on the one hand, means LeEco aims to build a “Super Electric Ecosystem”, and on the other hand, means the company wants to help China “See” blue skies with self-driving electric vehicles.

Ni said there are four players, including academic institutions, internet companies, traditional car manufacturers, and companies with AI experts and car experts, that are making autonomous cars in China right now. He said Letv Super Car is part of that last group and will overturn the traditional car industry in the near future.

Last month, LeEco invested USD 1 billion to build a three million square foot plant in the Nevada suburb of North Las Vegas. The company also launched its AI institute “FF & Le Future” in Silicon Valley this month. Ni called it the world’s first AI institute that is connecting car manufacturing experts with Internet experts.

LeEco unveiled its all-electric concept car, LeSEE, at the 2016 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on April 25. Ni said LeSEE not only meets the specification standards of cars, but also provides users with a good connected online experience. The car updates its functions automatically.

LeEco’s AI institute is carrying out R&D on EVs, but is also researching virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

Ni said AR display technology will play an important role in auto navigation systems, greatly improving a customer’s diving experience.
