Turing Robot to launch toy robot for the price of a smartphone

On Thursday, Chinese AI company Turing Robot’s CEO Yu Zhichen announced at the Slush Up event in Beijing that they will launch a cheap robot for kids in the first half of this year.

Yu said the price of the robot will be as low as a smartphone, so that every family can afford to buy one.

“This robot will be a good companion for kids, because it can dance, sing and play,” Yu added.

Yu also said that they are developing different kinds of robots and more products will be released this year.

Turing Robot landed RMB 50 million (USD 7.6 million) from Chinese animation company Alpha Animation in January, in response to the growing popularity of the toy robotics industry.

Also, the company will install its Turing operating system (OS) in Doraemon robots, which will be sold in China. Doraemon is a Japanese cartoon character that is very popular in China.

“We have two key products: one is the Turing Robot and the other is the Turing OS,” Yu said.

The Turing robot is currently the most intelligent robot brain using the Chinese language.

Turing OS is an intelligent robot operating system whose design is based on simulating how humans think and recognize emotions. It provides friendly, natural, multimode human-machine interaction methods.

Founded in 2010 in Beijing, Turing Robot develops intelligent robot operating systems, deep learning and cognitive computing technology. The company is known for its cloud robot, the Turing Robot.
