Got Cat & Dog problems? Wecarepet can come to your aid

Have you ever kept a cat or a dog as your pet? Do they live by eating your leftovers? Do you really care for them like your family?

China’s pet care Q&A platform Wecarepet says they do care for your pets, and offers you a chance to pay to ask them questions about your animal companions.

Users can learn some basic knowledge of their pets from the cartoons in the Wecarepet mobile app for free. They can also upload into the app questions related to their pets’ behaviors, nutrition and diseases.

Wecarepet then decides how much they will charge the users according to the difficulty of various questions. Generally, the prices of the answers vary from RMB 20 to 70 (USD 2.9 to 10.4) with about 1,000 Chinese characters in each of them, according to a report by tech blog Huxiu on Tuesday.

“The more detailed and subdivided the questions are, the higher the price, because Wecarepet’s veterinarians will spend more time in answering them,” Fang Xin, founder of Wecarepet, said in the Huxiu report.

According to its official website, the Wecarepet team were originally certificated veterinarians from North America, who came to China in 2015 to provide consultation services to Chinese pet owners.

50 veterinarians are currently answering questions in the Wecarepet app. The registered users and followers of the platform’s public account in China’s largest social network WeChat combined have reached 130,000 by far, and over 100 questions have been asked per day.

According to market research firm Euromonitor, the market size of the pet care industry in China will reach RMB 15.8 billion by 2019.
