Xiaomi’s official Weibo account announced on Monday that Xiaomi’s next product, the Mi Note2, will be launched next Tuesday. The launch event will be held at Peking University, with the movie star Leung Chiu-wai as a special guest.

Considered by some to be Xiaomi’s flagship product of this year, the Mi Note2 looks like it has some formidable capabilities. According to leaked information, the phablet features a 5.7-inch screen and 6GB of RAM.

In addition, a leaked photo of the handset presents a dual rear camera setup and a dual curved edge. Seeing this, some Weibo netizens commented, “It’s so pretty, so pretty that I wanna cry!”

According to Xiaomi’s poster for next Tuesday’s event, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, a well-known Hong Kong movie star, will join a discussion on “tech and art built in one”. Although some netizens joked that a middle-aged man may not appeal that much to youngsters today, Xiaomi may nevertheless expect to claim more fans with Liang’s charm.

The price? Rumor puts it at RMB 4,000 (USD 594). A public poll on Weibo shows that up till now a majority (82.2%) of voters would accept a price of RMB 3,999, rather than RMB 4,999 or RMB 5,999.

Xiaomi became famous as a phone maker by offering reliable products at relatively low prices. While introducing more expensive products may help it march into a more high-end consumer market, Mi fans still seem to prefer products that are not so expensive.
