Apple’s new moves in China: Singles’ Day sales and Alipay service

Apple is to offer its most aggressive discounts ever in China for this Double 11 shopping festival, otherwise known as Singles’ Day. Yet it is not Apple’s official site that will be offering the discounts – consumers can enjoy the benefits only at Apple’s flagship store on Tmall.

According to news website China Economic Net, the jet black iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available at Tmall’s Apple Store during the festival, splitting the stock of iphone 7s with China’s official Apple Stores.

In addition, the latest Macbook Pro laptop will before long be sold at both the official Apple Store and Apple’s flagship store on Tmall. ACT News has confirmed with Tmall. On November 11, Beats will also offer headphones at a 50% discount on Tmall.

Last year’s Single’s Day Tmall helped Apple boost sales. Apple reached a sales volume 10 times the size of their average daily performance.

Another move by Apple is expected to boost its profits in Apps as well. The company on Tuesday updated its smartphone software iOS; now the App Store and iTunes Store supports Alipay, Alibaba’s online payment tool.

Alipay’s monthly active users reached 282 million in July, according to the market research firm Analysys. Before the change, users in mainland China could mostly purchase apps, songs, and books with their credit cards.
