Huawei smartphones grab the top place for Singles’ Day on JD

JD.com published on Saturday the sales ranking of smartphones on the day of the Double 11 shopping festival, aka Singles’ Day, falling on November 11. Huawei’s Honor series topped the list, with 654,759 units sold.

Xiaomi and Apple ranked second and third respectively, followed by Meizu, Samsung, and LeEco.

Throughout this Double 11 shopping festival, starting from November 1st, a total of 4.34 million smartphones were sold via JD.com, with Huawei’s Honor series alone accounting for nearly 1.19 million units.

Apple kept its first place in terms of sales revenue, with Huawei and Xiaomi ranking second and third respectively.

The most popular mobile phones, categorized by price, are: Xiaomi’s Red Mi 4A (less than RMB 699), the Red Mi Note 3 (less than RMB 1,000), Huawei’s Honor 5C (less than RMB 1,500), Honor 6X (less than RMB 2,000) and Honor 8 (less than RMB 3,000), the iPhone 6s (less than RMB 4,000) and the iPhone 7 (above RMB 4,000).

It is also worth noting that 85% of the orders were placed at JD.com via mobile devices on November 11th.

When it comes to Alibaba’s Tmall, data show sthat the first one hour plus nine minutes on November 11th saw sales of smartphones surpassing a value of RMB two billion; within 30 minutes, Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu and Suning saw their sales volume add to RMB 100 million.

Maybe it is still early to say that the market for smartphones has been saturated in China.
