The top 5 ugliest electric vehicles in China

China has gained attention for its heavy investment in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. Among interesting vehicle designs available in the market, there are a few ugly ducklings that have also emerged during the boom. Check out AllChinaTech’s pick of the five ugliest EVs.

1. Chuangxin Xiaofuju – R2D2’s little brother

This EV definitely looks like something that could emit holograms and make weird robotic noises. However, it does not look like a car you would invite your date for a ride, as this picture suggests. Unless, of course, he or she is a Star Wars fan or a Wookie.

2. Weiyue Electric Four-wheel Vehicle – The feminine tractor

Have you always wanted to drive a tractor but found them too masculine? Well, now with the new Electric Four-wheel Vehicle (very imaginative name) from Weiyue, you can have the tractor design you have always wanted – completely devoid of manliness or any of the useful features a tractor would normally have. You can still use it for plowing through pedestrians, though.

3. Geely Kandi KD08 – The Barbie mobile

The Kandi KD08, aptly named Coco in the United States, does have a slightly better design than the rest of its four-wheeled friends. Unfortunately, it is an unnerving reminder of those plastic toy cars that children would love to play with in the backyard.

4. JC (Junchi) Kumi – The Mars rover

This vehicle looks so futuristic that it is easy to imagine it roaming through Mars. Not the Mars that you see on NASA’s images, but the one where Arnold Schwarzenegger travels to in the cult sci-fi movie Total Recall. I can even picture the three-breasted mutant behind the wheel.

5. JC (Junchi) Cooper – The Dumpling or baozi

JC (Junchi) Cooper – The Dumpling or baozi I cannot imagine what was going through the designers’ heads when they were drawing this Cooper, but I guess they were quite hungry since this little EV definitely resembles a type of steamed Chinese dumpling or Baozi in Mandarin. Baozi is usually filled with meat, so I guess the whole concept makes sense, right? No? Ok, guess not.
