Local services aggregator UrbanClap raises USD 21 million for Series C

App based local services aggregator UrbanClap has raised USD 21 million for its Series C financing round led by Vy Capital. Existing investors SAIF Partners, Accel Partners, and Bessemer Venture Partners also participated in this financing round. Ratan Tata, former Chairman of Tata Sons, had also invested in the startup back in December 2015.

UrbanClap was founded in 2014 by Varun Khaitan, Raghav Chandra and Abhiraj Bhal. It is a mobile service aggregator providing a wide range of local services.

The Gurugram-based startup provides a one-stop solution for all kinds of urban services including photography, home moving services, beauty styling, wedding planning, interior design, guitar lessons, business assistance, and so on. UrbanClap claims on its website that it has gathered 65,000 verified experts and has served 1.5 million customers on its platform. UrbanClap’s services cover eight cities in India – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

The startup will use the newly raised investment to develop technology, expand to more cities, and add new vendors.
