Gurugram-based health-tech startup, 1mg, attracted an additional USD 15 million in a Series C round. The new capital was invested by HBM Healthcare Investments with existing investors including Sequoia India, Maverick Capital Ventures, Omidyar Network, and Kae Capital.
1mg was founded in 2015 by Prashant Tandon, Vikas Chauhan, and Gaurav Agarwal. A well-rounded team of entrepreneurs, Prashant earned his MBA at Stanford University and previously worked at McKinsey & Co., Gaurav Agarwal previously acted as GM of Zynga and NetApp, and Vikas Chauhan previously served as Founder of Fresh ‘n’ Daily.
1mg, previously called HealthKart, rebranded and establised itself as a separate entity in April 2015. The startup operates an online marketplace for medicine, and provides online doctor consultation appointments and diagnostic test bookings. Their lab test service offers free home sample pickup and delivers online test reports.
The startup will use the newly raised investment mostly to further expand its online diagnostics and consultation services in India, specifically in smaller towns and cities.
Other players in this area include NetMeds, CareOnGo, and Practo. In January 2017, Practo closed USD 55 million for a Series D round led by Chinese giant, Tencent.
O2O beauty service marketplace BigStylist raises USD 1.2 M

Online beauty services startup BigStylist has raised USD 1.2 million in a fresh funding round led by Info Edge.
BigStylist was founded in 2015 by IIT Kharagpur graduates Richa Singh, Chinmaya Sharma, and Anurag Srivastava.
BigStylist is an app and web-based beauty and styling services platform. It provides users access to a network of the best beauty professionals in their neighborhood and enables users to place orders for home appointments from experts and stylists from a range of reviewed and rated providers. The startup specializes in providing beauty, wellness and grooming services like haircut, hairstyling, facial care, manicures, spa, body massage, etc. All of these beauty services are provided by professionals who are trained in-house. BigStylist, which currently operates in Pune and Mumbai, promises fast delivery service in less than one hour.
The startup will use the newly raised investment to accelerate net profitability.
Other players in this area include UrbanClap, HouseJoy, Fabogo, etc.
