South Korean O2O fishing platform Half Water, Half Fish raised USD 4.4 M

South Korea’s IcenV startup that operates an O2O platform for fishing called Half Water Half Fish raised KRW 5 billion of investment from Korea Investment Partners and Huayi Brothers Korea within a mere 2 months of launching their app.

Half Water Half Fish is a fishing O2O platform that aggregates information from 4000 fishing locations. Users can search and reserve their spot with the mobile app. Within the past two months, the app downloads have reached 50 million downloads in Google Play.

The water-based system has recently been updated with a smart measurement function. That is, users can use the app to measure the size of fish they caught on the spot without having to use other measurement devices. In addition, there is a system update for ‘real-time fishing reservation’, which can be ‘waterfall and weather’, and booking and payment right from the app.

“We hope to enhance fishing culture by eliminating inefficiencies in the process of finding and booking the fishing spot. In the days ahead, we will also expand the reach of our service to booking yachts, as a first step in our efforts to become a go-to platform for all ocean sports and leisure. Furthermore, we aspire to include more overseas fishing points. We recently added fishing points in Tsushima.”
