Flitto has received an undisclosed amount of investment from Colopl Next, the corporate venture capital firm of Japan’s largest social gaming company, COLOPL. Recently, Colopl Next has been actively investing in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) sectors. The integrated translation platform, Flitto, aims for more growth through an investment from a foreign firm, and to update its service overall.

Since its service launched as a collective intelligence platform in September 2012, Flitto has been a translation platform that can utilize both the knowledge of professional translators and artificial intelligence. It recently updated its service by adding an advanced, real-time voice translation function as one of its major features. Moreover, problems which artificial intelligence cannot solve, such as those of dialects and sentences with grammatical errors, are solved by professional translators. Flitto has recently proved its potential in the global market by selling accumulated language data to a leading global company.

Regarding this investment round, Colopl Next mentioned, “We see the promising potential of Flitto as a translation platform company that accumulates, refines, and provides language data”.

Simon Lee, CEO of Flitto said, “The service reform, which has been implemented since the fifth anniversary of the service, is the result of Flitto’s technology and effort, that is accumulated over the past five years. Flitto’s potential is being proven on the global market through investment and revenue growth”.
