Goa-based geospatial SaaS startup Transerve Technologies has raised USD 1.6 million in a Series A funding round from IL&FS Investment Managers and Omidyar Network.

Transerve was founded in 2009 by Amarsh Chaturvedi and Ashwani Kumar. Chaturvedi is an Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur alumnus who previously worked as a business analyst at Jones Lang LaSalle, a professional services and investment management firm specializing in real estate.

Transerve harnesses hyperlocal information to improve city operations. The startup seeks to enhance data collection accuracy, utilize geospatial technology to map projects and infrastructure, and assist decision makers in gaining a better understanding of issues-at-hand. Its survey solutions are aimed at improvising data collection, enhancing the speed of the process involved, and ultimately generating more accurate data.

The startup has two products, Transerve Data Collector and Smart Mu. The cloud-based Transerve Data Collector application helps users to collect data with geographical attributes and coordinates that can then be integrated into digital maps and GPS locations. The Android application allows users to create custom templates to ensure seamless data transition from field to office in real time. Transerve’s Smart Mu helps pragmatic municipalities transcend to smarter cities through its expertise in collecting and analyzing residential and commercial property data, both of which are critical components of city tax planning and resource management.

Chaturvedi, co-founder of Transerve, said that his company strives for excellence in providing technology solutions to largely unaddressed segments of urban and local bodies as well as infrastructure consultants.
