Founded in: 2016

Financing status: USD 200,000 for seed round in 2017

Hyderabad-based online fiction storytelling platform Kahaniya.com has raised USD 200,000 in a seed funding round from a group of undisclosed investors.

Kahaniya was founded in 2016 by Pallav Bajjuri, Devendar Gona, Jeswanth Padooru, and Sandeep Ponagandla. Bajjuri, Gona and Ponagandla previously co-founded SaddaHaq, a journalism platform. Prior to that, Bajjuri, an alumnus of Boston University, worked as a support engineer at Ember Corporation. Padooru previously worked as a system engineer at Tata Consultancy Services.

Kahaniya is an Indian languages-focused online fiction storytelling platform. Storytellers can self-publish nano stories, short stories, poems, series, and anthologies in 11 different Indian languages, as well as connect and engage with audiences. The platform automatically markets writer’s’ work and helps them to build an audience. Additionally, the startup’s platform allows writers to earn money by enabling writers to define and charge users a premium for their work.

The startup will use the newly raised investment to add more languages to its platform.
