Early stage venture capital firm Bon Angels announced that it has invested USD 0.6 million in TripStore, a platform for curating package trips.
TripStore makes it easier and faster for users to find deals on overseas package trips. Customers no longer need to visit many sites or provide their conditions, such as dates and countries, to check for ideal vacation trips. TripStore, which is accessible through an app and on the web, allows users to input information like travel duration, price, time of departure, number of travelers, and shopping preferences before filtering various trip package deals from different travel agencies. Also, if the customers select the city to which they want to travel, the website shows them different prices and dates so that they can easily compare their options.
According to the Korea Tourism Organisation and the Korea Tourist Bureau, 40% of all trips South Koreans take are package trips, and this kind of travel is expected to continue growing. The market size for package trips in South Korea is estimated at USD 6.8 billion, and the online portion of the market is expected to reach USD 4.7 billion within five years.
Simon Seok-Heun Kang, CEO of and partner at Bon Angels, said that TripStore provides extra convenience for those who travel overseas. He added that signing deals with big travel agencies will be one of the many reasons why the service has such large growth potential.
Soo Kwon Kim, CEO of TripStore, mentioned that package trips let people save time preparing for their trips and guarantee that they will be well taken care of by skilled guides. He then said that, ideally, a wider range of people would start booking package trip deals via TripStore since 30-40-year-olds are currently the main user base.
TripStore was established by ex-Baedal Minjok members including Soo Kwon Kim (Ex-CEO of baemin riders), Daehyun Go (Ex-director of Baedal Minjok), and Eunho Lee (Ex-CTO of Baedal Minjok). The app Baedal Minjok (“Nation of Deliveries”) is a food delivery service based in Seoul, South Korea, that currently services more than 150,000 restaurants and is growing internationally.
