Online delivery platform RGP Korea acquires delivery service Foodfly

RGP Korea, the service provider for Yogiyo and Baedaltong, recently acquired Foodfly, a delivery service for restaurants. RGP Korea agreed to a 100% stake in Fly&Company, the company that operates Foodfly.

Foodfly is an online restaurant delivery service that cooperates with 1,700 restaurants in 16 districts of Seoul and continues to expand.

Yogiyo and Baedaltong are both order mediating platforms between restaurants and consumers that allow customers to easily order and pay for food online.

Through this acquisition, it is now possible to order food from restaurants that did not provide delivery services before. Also, Foodfly expects to acquire more users through the merger with RGP Korea.

Shin-bong Kang, CEO of RGP Korea, said, “RGP Korea’s unique order delivery technology, customer-based performance marketing, and customer and merchant management skills will bring new opportunities if they are combined with Foodfly’s own delivery system. We look forward to offering our customers more choice and giving them a happy food delivery experience”.

Eun-sun Lim, CEO of Foodfly, mentioned, “We hope that the merger of two companies will greatly contribute to the innovation of the product and service. With RGP Korea, we will continue to expand in the food delivery market and provide greater satisfaction to our customers”.

K Cube Ventures announced that it has invested in Minischool, an online English education platform for children. This seed investment round was conducted with Plantree Partners and the investment amount is USD 400,000.

Minischool, launched in June of last year, is an online education solution for children ages four to seven. Teachers can operate animated characters through TVs, computers and smartphones, to remotely express actions and emotions. They can also use web cameras to communicate with children in real time.

Minischool’s two-way education uses characters to effectively engage children’s natural ability to learn. In particular, Minischool’s Cube-type educational content can adjust the difficulty level according to the child’s level of understanding, and provide tailored learning. Also, parents can easily manage the progress of their children through a ‘reports for parents’ feature, which includes monitoring through video recorded classes and an evaluation system.

Wook Jung, CEO of Minischool, said, “Through this investment round, we will focus on providing more friendly and high quality education services to our children by collaborating with famous character brands. In the near future, we will also show educational contents developed by Minischool through our exclusive applications”.

Shina Chung the Partner at K Cube Ventures, who led this investment round, mentioned, “Minischool is founded by members who have extensive experience in both education and platform business, including Wook Jung, the former developer of KakaoTalk’s VoiceTalk service, and Jong-Gu Ahn, who was a director of business development in the education industry. We hope that Minischool develops as an edu-tech company specializing in early childhood education by continuously developing differentiated content and curriculum.
